| I'm quite aware of my options for rollbars. I have a good friend who is an amazing welder and has built full cages for circle track cars. I'm going to have him fab me one up eventually. It'll be cheaper than the 450 bucks or so to get a hard dog and it might fit slightly tighter to the roof line.
Derrick and I have had many a conversation on this topic. I have tossed up the idea of caging it but I'm not going to. Roll bar will be good enough. The windsheild collapses on rollovers but hopefully that wont be enough to kill me if it should ever happen. Besides, I wont be tracking my car much due to the fact that right now I'm broke and it's my only car. It's going to need a full drivetrain swap before too long and I think I want to turbo it.
I really love driving it on track but being my only car its gonna have to wait. The convertible aspect MAKES the car, and caging it...though fun as hell, would get annoying after awhile. Reason being a helmet is absolutely necessary at all times whenever you have bars near your head.
Ive considered caging it and making it so the top can be removed but then you still have to either sacrifice space or remove the door guts and windows. no windows = not streetable (unless like..it was sunny and warm). To be honest I'll probably either 1. get another miata to cage and go racing with when I'm older and done with school and all that, or 2. get a s5 FC turbo muahahhaa | |

| Yeah that sounds like a good plan, and I agree that a cage would ruin the cruising spirit of a Miata, plus is very unsafe without a helmet. | |

| Here are examples I'm talking about: Door guts removed and convertible ability kept: Big rollbar that WOULD work. reason being I dont think I'd clear the full 1" over my helmet from the top of a rollbar in MY car to the hood (since the windshield crushes). This could be an option if I ever got another miata: see how the helmets are higher? this almost makes me say fuck a rollbar in general: (Sorry for the long post by now) This picture makes a rollbar just look bad ass and another thing ive tossed up a ton is the front lip mod: Idk lots of stuff to think about. I know I am keeping the car forever till it catches on fire or I roll it or some big truck runs me over. I wanna redo a lot of cosmetic stuff and the whole drivetrain as well, making it new and more reliable and maybe adding more power! | |

| if you also fabbed a seat bracket so you're sitting on the floor, maybe the rollbar would clear your head then? | |

| Yeah that's dumb that rollbars are sometimes not tall enough to clear the helmet. I like the idea of a lip, GV lips look sick! And I think you should do an NA IRTB build Damn I want a Miata so bad | |
