| When the roads are empty and slippery is when the most fun is had, I think. | |

| OK. I just don't think driving in the morning and working are mutually exclusive activities. | |

| I drove all morning everywhere I wanted to go and I thought a picture or two might be nice for those people stuck on the assembly line | |

| Speaking of snowy roads, be on the lookout for that tar they use to fill in the cracks. Even if the rest of the road surface is fine, that shit is as slippery as the new kitchen spray Clark's company has been working on that's 500 times more slippery than any cooking oil.
I have a sneaking suspicion it was involved in all those crashes on 94 at Jackson this morning.

| I know all about tar strips. Doesn't matter what the weather is like, they'll make a bike squirm all around. Get them hot or wet or cold and it's definitely scary. Wish I had my tow truck The first couple snow storms are biiiig money. | |

| I have snow tires. At lunch I got on 94E @ baker and was accelerating just fine, then one tire hits the tar strip and my traction control goes crazy because it's just spinning.
The left lane all around the curve on 94W @ jackson has a huge thick tar strip right where your right tires sit. My car always squirms around but it's fine when dry. Now I'm staying waay over to the left in that lane to avoid it.

| I know what strip you're talking about. It would be a nice curve to drive around if it weren't for that strip. | |

| The sharp curves on this road are pretty terrifying in the wet. | |

| I bet you enjoy the "seal coating" process they seem to be using more and more. Well, until you fall on it when the stones are still loose. | |

| The road in the first picture was seal coated the entire length. I didn't fall over once riding on it though | |

| Yeah, other than the noise I don't really mind it after it's all set, but the first few days/weeks depending on traffic level are a nightmare.
I also would love to see a study done on its effects on tire wear.

| My road has a lot more grip with it so I would assume it wears your tires out quicker. I felt that the lower traffic roads ended up with a better surface. The high traffic roads have obvious tire grooves that puddle up in the rain and the low traffic roads like mine seem to have settled naturally. | |
