| When I read 'new car' all I can think about is 'brake override system mandatory on all cars built after...' | |

| Shit's getting ridiculous. Mandatory traction control, airbags, "brake override", shit that keeps you from being able to hit the gas and the brake at the same time (maybe brake override?) yet they expect auto manufactures to produce cars that are fuel efficient? Get real. If I was in control of the universe I would require states to provide better drivers education. I few weekends of listening to some old fuck who doesn't know anything about driving doesn't count . And they back up these mandates with figures like "if every car in America had blank, it would save X thousand lives". I can only imagine how many lives would be saved if we cut the number of dumb asses by %50. /rant

| i strongly agree with you statement nick, i dont understand why the driving age is also so low, and how anyone can finish it it a couple of months, in Europe all the countries have a minimal age of 18, and a much more in depth driving coarse, also you must learn how to drive a m/t in order to pass, which i still dont understand why we use these shit box torque converters | |

| If drivers ed used manuals, this country would be filled with crazy Asian girls in an all star neon's trying to figure out which gear they are in, while they don't realize they are going the wrong way | |

| Don't forget that OnStar and Sync cars aren't the only cars that can report your location and speed and listen to your conversations. | |

Everyone should have to take a driving test every 15 years or something, just because you can drive when your 16, doesn't mean you can when your 76.

| I think there might be a little paranoia there. Cars aren't recording your conversations. The "black box" is set to record something like the last 15 seconds of DATA before a crash, such as throttle position, steering angle and stuff like that. | |

OnStar techs can listen to and record you, shut off your car, lock your doors from inside and out, and spray deadly knockout gas into the car through the speakers.

^amen to that^ i think people these days are just to concerned with luxury and technology all of which makes the driver less and less aware of their surroundings and thus causes more and more accidents.

| Rear cross path detection system? I have one of those... it's called my eyes.
Brake override in case the computer thinks the driver has no idea how to work the pedals? If the computer thinks you have no idea what you're doing it should shut off the engine and shred your driver's license.

| It's really true I know so many bad drivers it is ridiculous. It's hard to do much about it though with the way the legal system works. If you were a politician that didn't know much about cars you would assume that adding these safety features would be beneficial and not realize the downsides. I think we need more car enthusiast (not car-company) lobbyists! Oh and the new Cayman R, what do you think? | |
