so i bought a mx-5 miata, yes i know i have too many projects, i am ADD even though i have such little time to work on cars. hopefully i'll get a car worthy of the illes7 plate in the future to have a collection of some great mazdas.
story behind this one is it was some grandma's car, the 18 year old ricer grandson got a hold of it - dumped a ton of money into it at flyin' miata and full race to come up with this:

Plans for the car are to get this turbo system dialed in with a smaller turbo (currently a full race t3/t61 which is ~gt35 sized). I'm thinking a GT2871/GT30r range with a large exhaust side since I should be able to rev to around 8500 with all the headwork and upgraded springs/valves/etc. The HKS cams will also give me some power at the top end, where the stock ones usually drop off at 8k. AEM EMS needs to be installed with GM sensors, LSx truck coils. Currently has an old Link ECU (FM's ECU solution of choice before they made the Hydra). Probably upgrade to ID 1000cc injectors and run E85 after I get all that other stuff done. There's some other stuff I should probably do like ATI damper and a coolant reroute too.
Interior was all color matched to the body. it was an eyesore, so i'm going through and toning it down. Painted a bunch of the panels with plastidip for now. I'm going to go the retro roadster route in the future.
Did a bunch of maintenance fluids:
Rotella T6 5w40 in the engine, Motorcraft XT-M5-QS trans fluid, and Redline 75w90 in the diff.
Also threw in a set of fresh NGK 4644 spark plugs in.
Getting Redline Tuning to fit hoodlifts to it in the near future - glad they haven't made a kit for NA miatas yet
(damon's car is on the website!
)
Also replacing the front suspension control arms - got a hold of some V8Roadster LCA's for cheap, my UCA's need replacing since the ball joints are crusty and the boots are gone - you can't buy replacement ball joints for these and OEM replacements are the same price as tubulars - so I'm going tubular. Also going to depowered a PS rack and get the pinion welded to reduce slop.
think i can get this done myself:
