Then why are so many parts on the Mazda6 labeled FoMoCo?

Because Ford and Mazda share a lot of stuff. Ford used to own 30% of Mazda, now it's down to about 10%. There are a lot of FoMoCo parts on my car, and your car has the exact same engine. Different variants of the 2.3 are used in various vehicles. It's pretty common in the automotive industry because it's a win-win for both companies. Just because a part says fomoco on it doesn't necessarilly mean that ford designed it, it could mean they licensed it (bought the rights to produce it on their own.)

I remember hearing that a lot of the suspension components and more were designed by Ford.

There is no question that part of the reason American companies are struggling is because fewer people than ever are buying American. What these companies do not understand is, consumers should not and are not allowing themselves be held hostage. We should not by American merely because it exists. If we do, nothing will force these companies to change. Currently, the majority of American companies are nearly 100% stagnate. Companies like Apple have been able to grow even in the down economy because they #1 invest in people and #2 because of number one, have the resources to innovate. We as consumers are not responsible for any companies well-being, not even domestic ones. In fact, it is the exact opposite. Business is here to provide for the community and the economy. Businesses are built so that people have jobs and money to buy the products other companies make. The worst part of it all is, these companies abandoned our country a long time ago. When people in America stopped buying the mediocre products being offered to them, what did many American companies do? They outsourced their labor to countries like China and Mexico. Now ask yourself, who is responsible for who? I sure as hell am not here to help a company exist that takes jobs away from Americans. The excuse I constantly hear is this; these companies outsource because they can't make enough money to pay Americans, because nobody is buying their products. From the industrial revolution, all the way up until the late 70's, Americans almost exclusively bought American products. affraid Imagine that! The products we offered were nearly the best in the world and It wasn't just Americans who bought our products either. It's possible for American companies to build products that we (Americans) will buy but if and only if they realize their piece in Americas economic puzzle.

Someone in Mexico is doing my job right now. Ask me how sympathetic I am.
