Went to k2k today, first run sucked, my kart was fuckin garbage. I dominated the second run, placing first out of 11. I beat the guy who's 4th overall on the r.p.m. list. Fasted lap was a 29.64.

Didn't set any fast laps, I was using the brake and trying to inch my braking point further forward every lap like in a car but I guess you're not going to use the brake at all to get a good time, which I probably would have figured out after a few more laps. I doubt at 270 lbs I'll be able to get under 32.

Yeah it kinda sucks that you don't have to brake at most of the turns. I hits the brakes at the two corners after the long straights, and the sharp turn right before the pits. From driving both, I think Clio karts are much better. The karts are faster and more consistent, and the driving is more intense and upbeat.

Yeah the track looks more interesting too, Kart2Kart is just hairpins. You say you used the brake to set a 29.xx? I think this time when I go I'm just going to plow through the corners and ease off where I need to to gain speed.

The way the karts are oversteer limited is fun. If only my fat ass fit in the seat XD

I'll have a video of my run up soon. Out of 15 laps, 4 of them were sub 30, 8 were in the 30's, 2 in 31's, and 1 32.

Thanks! Except I haven't driven the FSAE car yet. The current car is too fragile for them to put freshmen in, and we're currently getting the driver training car back together.

when i went last october a ran a few laps in the 30's, i think my fastest was a 30/3or a 30.4, so i think once you figure out the track you'll run at least in the 31's. when i get baqck we should all go.

My favorite part is at 6:42. That's our fasted FSAE driver that I'm following, and these guys were so pissed that we both passed them on the outside. It was awesome beating the FSAE guy, because he's always the fastest at karting.

You said you used the brake for the hairpins after the long straights. How did you use it? Did you brake before turn-in to shed speed while turning in to shift the grip balance forward? I know either way that you had to be barely brushing it because apparently a heavy brake after the Red Bull bridge is apparently good for adding 4 seconds to your lap Just curious because the expense means I won't get many chances to experiment.

I had really late braking points, and hit the brakes at the same time I was turning in, so it was trail braking. It was for a combination of slowing the car down, and getting the kart rotated.

Alright, that's what it looked like in the video. I think I'll not use the brake for a few laps and add a dab of it if it pushes in either of the hairpins.
